If you have upgraded to macOS Ventura (13.x) and facing a connectivity issue with your Android device through the Android File Transfer app, then read on.

After connecting to the Android device, when you open the Android File Transfer app, it says “Unable to connect to the device” and asks you to reconnect or restart the device. Even if you restart the Android device or the Mac, it may not work. To recover from this error, try out the following steps one by one, and at each step open the Android File Transfer app to verify:

  • Quit the Preview app
  • Quit the Google Drive Sync app
  • Enable USB debugging mode on your device. To enable USB Debugging, first, you have to enable Developer Option.
